Today we went to the computer lab. We did a reading test there. It was exciting!
Five kids in our class got hurt today. They were Jeny, Zack, Dmitri, Carter and Kaitlyn. We hope they feel better tomorrow. - The Class

We had a great first week of school! We started our phonics and math books this week. We also wrote in journals three times. I read a short, funny chapter book called Mr. Klutz is Nuts. I also read a few books by David Shannon, No David! and David Goes to School Next week we will get spelling lists and start our handwriting books.

We had a great first day of school. We went over a lot of school and class rules as well as procedures. It really isn't the most exciting day, but the students did a great job of following our class rules:


While today wasn't especially academic, a number of student did learn an important lesson, "Don't walk through the mud to line up after recess."

FYI - Our classroom doesn't have any computer access yet, so I cannot check e-mail at school.

My family has been so helpful getting the new classroom ready. Almost all of the boxes are unpacked and most stuff is put away.
The specials schedule, discipline plan and first newsletter are also posted. This information will also be sent home, but if you ever need to find this info, it will stay on the web site.

The second grade teachers had a meeting this morning to figure out our specials schedule. I will post the schedule soon. I forgot to bring it home today. The construction crew is almost finished with our room. The custodians moved all of my stuff into the new room this morning and I was able to start unpacking.

I stopped by our new classroom yesterday. It looks like I will get a late start on preparing the room for the school year. I'm excited about the new room though. The lighting seemed really bright, yet soft. Also, the air conditioner was running and it was very quiet. -Mr. Gall
