Wednesday, March 26, 2008Friendly LettersThe students made fantastic books during our non-fiction unit in Writer's Workshop. Now we are working on writing friendly letters. Here is an excellent example of a friendly letter, written by Katilyn. -Mr. Gall  Labels: writers workshop Thursday, January 24, 2008I Tricked Miss Box I am sleepy. I didn't get much sleep. When I get home, I'm on Webkinz. On Webkinz I went to the Weel of Wow. I won 500 Kinzcash twice. We had chese pizza. I tricked Miss Box into geting the pizza. -Jessica Today I ate a good lunch. It was pizza. I ate apple sace too! -Caitlin's journal Today on the time test my mom told me to get in the 80s. I thot I wood only get 81. But I got 87! -Carter's journal Today we watched Selma Lord Selma. It was cool. Very cool. At least I like it. -Dmitri's journal Today we watched Martin Louther King Jr. Ther were som scarey parts. Me and Bailey were crying. We were so sad. Tomarow Jenys moving. I'm going to get her something. -Hailey's journal Today after school me, my sister Mikayla, my brother Tyler and my brother Logan are going to play Scrable. Scrable is a game ware you make words. We have been practicing spelling rules for adding -ing and -ed. It is great to see students put what we practice to actual use. Here are some pictures from Writer's Workshop today in which students used spelling rules correctly on their own. -Mr. Gall

Myn was about when I went camping with my mom and my dad and my sisters. There names are Jasmine and Ashlyn. We were at Yogy Bare. The place we were at was the arecade. A story map is kinda like a map but it's a little diferent than a map. Heres what you have to do to make one. You think for something then you draw what your thinking. Then you put a x on places that remind you of something. Then you can write the story. Mr. Gall drew one. I finished my book I was publishing! Oh ya I forgot to tell you Mr. Gall said we could choose one book from Writers Workshop. I chose the Three Cs. I did about the auther. I write more than I thought. Me & nicole were reading a book & today we finally finished it & were gona find a new book to start. Oh ya it was called Horible Harry & we think were gona read another book of Horible Harry. -from Mackenzie's Journal
